During the recent Xbox Games Showcase, a new game from Microsoft and The Coalition called Gears of War: E-Day was introduced. Several appealing aspects of the game's solitary-play mode were discussed, including its linear plot and mimicry of the suspense-filled atmosphere in the original Gears game. However, details about a possible multiplayer function were largely absent.
Historically, the Gears series has consistently highlighted the multiplayer feature, but no official announcement from The Coalition or Microsoft about whether E-Day will continue this tradition. However, the game's creative director, Matt Searcy, suggests that multiplayer will indeed be included.
In a recent interview with Windows Central, Searcy hinted that Gears of War: E-Day, the next serious installment of the Gears saga, would offer the diverse playing modes that fans associate with the Gears franchise.
"As the next core entry in the Gears lineup, it's safe to anticipate we'll be incorporating familiar gameplay modes," Searcy shared. "You can probably predict the direction we'll take with E-Day." The Coalition will announce the exact modes to be included at a later time.
Gears of War: E-Day is being developed for Xbox Series X/S and PC. While there has been no official news regarding a release date, rumor has it the game might launch in 2025.
